Responses of Mycosis Fungoides to Intensive External Treatment With Nitrogen Mustard

Eugene J. Van Scott, MD; Peter L. Winters, MD

Arch Dermatol. 1970;102(5):507-514.

Abstract

Complete clinical and histologic remission of plaque stage disease of mycosis fungoides was achieved in a majority of patients intensively treated with whole body applications of nitrogen mustard. Resolution of plaques and tumors was also achieved when the drug was injected intralesionally. In some patients clinical improvement was temporally associated with delayed hypersensitivity reactions to the drug. Permanence of improvement achievable by these means has not been established.
