Cyclophosphamide and Pemphigus Vulgaris

Eugene M. McKelvey, MD; Junji Hasegawa, MD

Arch Dermatol. 1971;103(2):198-200.

Abstract

A 47-year-old man with pemphigus vulgaris complicated by diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, and advanced steroid myopathy was treated with cyclophosphamide. His skin lesions cleared as his corticosteroids were reduced to low levels. The steroid toxicity has improved dramatically. The patient is now ambulatory and has remained in remission for one year on a maintenance program of 100 mg of cyclophosphamide daily, plus the equivalent of 10 mg of prednisone every other day.
