Abstract
A patient with a strong contact allergy to Mycolog cream was patch tested to its 18 ingredients. He initially showed positive reactions to several, including the perfume present in the cream. However, on retesting three months later, he only reacted to the perfume which was diluted to 1% in petrolatum. Ten control volunteers showed no reaction to patch tests with the full strength perfume, demonstrating that the patient had a true allergic contact dermatitis to this material. Thus, the perfume should be added to the list of potentially sensitizing compounds present in the Mycolog cream.
