Abstract
Skin necrosis occurred in a patient with osteolytic metastatic breast cancer and hypercalcemia. Metastatic calcification of the media of dermal and subcutaneous arterioles was demonstrated histopathologically. Sixteen cases of metastatic calcification with skin necrosis reported in other publications were reviewed. The present case appears to be the first in which metastatic calcification with skin necrosis occurred in the absence of chronic renal disease or hyperparathyroidism.
