Dermatitis Herpetiformis With Discoid Lupus Erythematosus

Occurrence of Sulfone-Induced Discoid Lupus Erythematosus

Paul R. Vandersteen, MD; Robert E. Jordon, MD

Arch Dermatol. 1974;110(1):95-98.

Abstract

A 71-year-old woman with dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) was treated with dapsone and developed a phototoxic dermatitis. Subsequently, lesions that were consistent with discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) developed on the exposed skin. Immunofluorescent studies confirmed the presence of both DH and DLE in this patient.
