Abstract
A 49-year-old woman with thymoma, systemic lupus erythematosus, chronic cutaneous herpes simplex and pure red blood cell aplasia is reported. At autopsy, cytomegalovirus infection was recognized. The thymoma developed about ten years prior to the onset of various clinical symptoms. The association of these unusual features in a patient with thymoma suggests the presence of a basic disturbance in immune mechanism.
