Pulse Therapy

Therapeutic Efficacy in the Treatment of Pyoderma Gangrenosum

Robert B. Johnson, MD; Gerald S. Lazarus, MD

Arch Dermatol. 1982;118(2):76-84.

Abstract

• Three patients with pyoderma gangrenosum were treated with suprapharmacologic doses of methylprednisolone sodium succinate using a five-day pulse therapy regimen. This therapy produced a dramatic remission with minimal side effects. The effects of pulse therapy are reviewed, and its role in severe steroid-responsive dermatoses is discussed.
