Kyrle's Disease in Patients With Chronic Renal Failure

Antoinette F. Hood, MD; Gary L. Hardegen, MD; Alfredo R. Zarate, MD; Thomas P. Nigra, MD; Michael C. Gelfand, MD

Arch Dermatol. 1982;118(2):85-88.

Abstract

• Hyperkeratosis follicularis et parafollicularis in cutem penetrans, or Kyrle's disease, is a rare dermatologic entity with distinctive clinical and histopathologic features. Over a two-year period, nine cases of Kyrle's disease were observed among 200 patients receiving hemodialysis for chronic renal failure. This observation suggests an association between Kyrle's disease and renal disease that, to our knowledge, has not previously been reported.
