DR. KLOTZ gave the history of a case of syphilis with unusualfeatures. The patient was a man who presented himself at thedispensary with an indurated lesion on the prepuce, which hestated had made its appearance three or four weeks before. Somedays later he returned and said that on the evening previoushe had had high fever and an intense itching over the chest. On examination an eruption very similar to that of urticariawas found in this region; the lesions were reddish in color, and on top of each was a clear vesicle which did not cover theentire surface. These vesicles gradually become more numerous, and many of them dried up and formed a very thin scale in thecenter of the papule, which otherwise was soft and of a muchlighter color than syphilitic papules usually are. They appearedexactly six weeks after infection. The speaker said he has neverseen nor read of syphilitic lesions which appear as clear vesicles.
