Occlusion, Topical Corticosteroids and Heat in Psoriasis

LAWRENCE FRANK, M.D.; YEHOSHUA RAPP, M.D.

Arch Dermatol. 1963;87(1):32-34.

Abstract

Observations on the therapeutic effectiveness of topically applied corticosteroids under occlusive plastic dressings in psoriasis with and without application of heat are reported. A better and more rapid clinical response was observed with the application of heat. Maceration by occlusion alone was not effective.

Total body injunction with corticosteroids did not produce any demonstrable absorption.

Complete histologic clearance does not occur when the lesions are clinically clear.
