Comparative Effects of Current Topical Corticosteroids

A. J. EDELSTEIN, MD

Arch Dermatol. 1964;89(3):393-394.

Abstract

A comparison of topical flurandrenolone 0.05%, fluocinolone acetonide 0.25%, and triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% was performed in a total of 103 cases of selected dermatoses, using the occlusive plastic film technique. Objective critical evaluation demonstrated essentially equal efficacy in the majority of the cases (63.1%). Differences of response when they occurred were very minute and difficult to determine accurately. Topical corticosteroids in a vanishing cream base were preferred to those in a petrolatum base by most of the patients, but objectively they were equally efficacious.
