Oral Amphotericin B In North American Blastomycosis
ROGER LAUBENHEIMER, MD
Arch Dermatol. 1964;89(6):832-836.
Abstract
A case is reported of a patient with proved North American blastomycosis who exhibited both pulmonary and progressive cutaneous lesions. Nine weeks of treatment with large doses of orally administered amphotericin B (Fungizone) produced substantial improvement in the roentgenographic appearance of the asymptomatic pulmonary lesions as well as in the cutaneous lesion. One month after completion of therapy all lesions had cleared.
The patient remains asymptomatic and apparently free of his disease 20 months following completion of the single nine-week course of oral amphotericin B therapy.
