Epidermal Proliferations Overlying Histiocytomas

ROBERT J. SCHOENFELD, MD

Arch Dermatol. 1964;90(3):266-270.

Abstract

Microscopic examination of a series of 457 histiocytomas disclosed a wide spectrum of changes of the epidermis overlying most of them. A total of 231 displayed some tendency toward atypical epidermal proliferation, and 21 showed many definite proliferations. While these atypical proliferations might be unusual of themselves, they were found to be only an extreme example of the wide spectrum of epidermal changes noted, and it is concluded that they are entirely benign.
