An Appraisal

Abstract
"Lipogranulomatosis subcutanea" is the term which was used by Makai (1928) to connote a form of circumscribed panniculitis, although Rothmann described the disorder previously (1894). The disease is characterized by the development of subcutaneous nodules on the trunk and extremities which undergo spontaneous involution. Children are affected most frequently, and there are no systemic symptoms. The lesions do not occur in crops as in the Weber-Christian syndrome. The cause is unknown and there is no effective treatment.
