Relationship Between Vertical Facial Dimension and Perlèche
MARVIN E. CHERNOSKY, MD
Arch Dermatol. 1966;93(3):332-337.
Abstract
To determine the relationship between perlèche and vertical dimensions of the face, the facial measurements of 347 adult patients were taken. The group with significantly decreased vertical facial dimensions had an incidence of perlèche approximately nine times that of the group with normal measurements.
A decreased vertical dimension produces inward folding of the skin at the corners of the mouth. This forms a salive-containing sulcus frequently seen in patients with perlèche. Causes for decreased vertical dimension are reviewed.
