Malignant Skin Tumors in Multiple Myeloma

GEORGE L. RIVER, MD; WILLIAM F. SCHORR, MD

Arch Dermatol. 1966;93(4):432-438.

Abstract

Two patients with multiple myeloma developed cutaneous myeloma tumors. Well-differentiated myeloma cells characterized the tumors of the first case; those of the second case were anaplastic, resembling reticulum cell sarcoma.

The rarity of such cutaneous tumors is noted in a review of the literature. In addition, a morphologically less differentiated group of myeloma patients is apparent. Whether their anaplastic tumors are myeloma or a new malignancy is discussed. Bone marrow films differentiation.
