Abstract
Thermal shrinkage (TS) values of whole dermal connective tissue were increased when determined in solutions of dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) and reached a maximal mean increase of IOC at 10.5 M DMSO (75%). These changes were completely reversible by a subsequent saline wash when the specimens had been soaked in DMSO solutions for 30 minutes but were only partially reversible when the specimens were soaked for 24 hours. Dehydration of dermal collagen may partially explain these changes.
