Unusual Striped Hyperpigmentation of the TorsoA Sequel of Abnormalities of Epitrichial Exfoliation
Richard C. Gibbs, MD
Arch Dermatol. 1967;95(4):385-386.
Abstract
A Negro infant with bands of horizontal pigmentation across the abdomen is described. The cause of the seemingly inexplicable abnormality probably was some form of inability to shed the epitrichium. Prolonged fissuring and cracking of this embryonal membrane produced trauma to the folded underlying skin and promoted melanogenesis.
