EVIDENCE-BASED MEDICINE is the conscientious explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients.¹ Several books have been written about how to practice,² teach,³ and understand⁴ evidence-based medicine. Evidence-based medicine articles abound in the medical literature. However, few of these articles appear in the dermatological literature and few evidence-based medicine articles address the care of patients with skin diseases.

The Archives of Dermatology will publish an issue devoted to evidence-based medicine in dermatology. We are interested in receiving manuscripts regarding evidence-based medicine as it relates to dermatology. The types of articles may include, but are not limited to, the following: systematic reviews (of therapy, diagnosis, harm, or prognosis), decision analysis, practice guidelines, outcomes analysis, searching for evidence, resources on the Internet, teaching evidence-based medicine, and evidence-based medicine publication (eg, Cochrane Collaboration, Evidence-Based Medicine, or ACP Journal Club).
