An Erythematous Noduloplaque on the Trunk

REPORT OF A CASE
A 69-year-old white man presented with a 2-year history of a lesion on the anterior aspect of his chest wall. The lesion had developed from a tender erythematous plaque to a nodular lesion over 2 months.
Physical examination revealed a well-defined, firm, erythematous plaque measuring 5 x 4 cm situated on the lower part of the sternum (Figure 1). There were 2 nodules within the plaque. The surrounding skin was indurated and tethered. A biopsy specimen was obtained from the nodular part of the lesion and stained with hematoxylin-eosin (Figure 2). Immunohistochemical staining with desmin is demonstrated in Figure 3.
