REPORT OF A CASE

A 28-year-old woman presented with lesions on the buccal mucosa and the back of her hands. The lesions, which had first appeared when the patient was 19 years old, had developed over a period of 9 years and worsened in the spring and summer. She had undergone numerous treatments (eg, topical corticosteroids, photoprotectors, and antimalarial agents), with no success. She was a heavy smoker, and she had a son who suffered from chronic granulomatous disease. During her pregnancy, the lesions had improved noticeably, without any treatment.

Physical examination revealed erythematous scaly plaques, with some atrophy involving the back of both hands (Figure 1) and the lower neckline area.
