Systematic review of comparative efficacy and tolerability of calcipotriol in treating chronic plaque psoriasis

Ashcroft et al performed a quantitative systematic review to assess the comparative efficacy and tolerability of topical calcipotriol in the treatment of mild to moderate chronic plaque psoriasis. The authors searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Cochrane Collaboration Controlled Clinical Trials Registry, and BIDS index to scientific and technical proceedings using relevant keywords and contacted the manufacturers of calcipotriol.

Only randomized controlled trials of calcipotriol were included, and only patients with chronic plaque psoriasis treated with 0.005% calcipotriol cream or ointment were eligible for inclusion. As in all Cochrane systematic reviews, trial eligibility was determined and data extracted independently by 2 authors.
