THE ANNUAL Trainee Award is given to the dermatology resident or fellow who was the first author for the most meritorious original research article published in the ARCHIVES for the past year ending in October. The award recipient is given a certificate of commendation, $100, and a copy of One Hundred Years of JAMA Landmark Articles.1 The award is presented at the Residents' Colloquium held during the annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology.
The awardee for 1999 (November-October 1999) is Jorge R. Toro, MD, for his article "Birt-Hogg-Dube Syndrome: A Novel Marker of Kidney Neoplasia," coauthored by Gladys Glenn, MD, Paul Duray, MD, Thomas Darling, MD, PhD, Gregor Weirich, MD, Berton Zbar, MD, Marston Lineham, MD, and Maria L. Turner, MD.
