Multiple Umbilicated Papules on a Young Man

REPORT OF A CASE
A 20-year-old obese Hispanic man presented with a 6-month history of an asymptomatic, papular eruption that had begun on his shoulders and had slowly spread across his chest, back, buttocks, and arms. His medical history was significant for hypertension and for diabetes mellitus of approximately 1 year's duration. His family history was noncontributory.
Physical examination revealed hundreds of small (1- to 7-mm-diameter), yellowish papules on the upper part of his arms, chest, and back. Most of these lesions appeared to be umbilicated and were surrounded by erythematous halos (Figure 1 and Figure 2). The patient also had several lesions that were excoriated. He denied any local or systemic symptoms. Punch biopsy specimens were obtained from 2 lesions on his elbow and upper arm area (Figure 3 and Figure 4).
