Speckled Lentiginous Nevus–Classic Congenital Melanocytic Nevus Hybrid Not the Result of "Collision"

Since this article does not have an abstract, we have provided the first 150 words of the full text and any section headings.

We disagree with the conclusion reached by Dr Lisa Cohen in the last 2 paragraphs of her recent editorial.1 She hypothesized that the hybrid lesions described in our article2 could be the result of a collision between an acquired speckled lentiginous nevus and a classic congenital melanocytic nevus. However, we described several hybrid lesions where the 2 components were admixed, as in a marble cake, not simply next to one another, as in a layer cake. To suggest that this represents a collision lesion of 2 independent entities would be analogous to being served a marble cake and speculating that the chocolate portion was baked on Monday, the vanilla portion on Tuesday, and the 2 mixed together on Wednesday.
