Nodular Fasciitis

REPORT OF A CASE

A 27-year-old African American man with sideroblastic anemia and a remote history of a traumatic neuroma of the right wrist noted a 3-month history of a "painful knot" on the left side of his face. He was referred to the dermatology department with the diagnosis of a lipoma. The patient stated that the mass expanded rapidly for 2 months and then did not change in size during the weeks preceding its evaluation. The patient admitted having been punched in the affected area several months before the lesion developed. The patient denied any systemic symptoms or a history of other rapidly enlarging masses.
