Frambesiform Nodule With an Ecchymotic Ring

REPORT OF A CASE
An otherwise healthy 24-year-old man presented with an asymptomatic
lesion on the left side of the middle of his back that a friend had brought
to his attention 4 weeks earlier. The lesion was an ovoid, purplish black,
frambesiform nodule, measuring 1 cm in diameter, with a 4-mm surrounding rim
of ecchymosis (Figure 1). The innermost
aspect of the ecchymotic halo was lighter than the outermost portion. The
lesion did not blanch with diascopy. The results of the rest of the physical
examination were unremarkable.

The patient denied any history of chronic disease or similar lesions.
He reported a small amount of bleeding from the site after minor trauma to
