Mycophenolate Mofetil for the Treatment of Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus With Smoldering Systemic Involvement

Mycophenolate mofetil has been successfully used for the treatment of several autoimmune and inflammatory skin diseases.1 Although multiple studies support the use of mycophenolate mofetil in systemic lupus erythematosus (LE), only 3 cases describing its use in chronic cutaneous LE without systemic involvement have been reported.2-3 We discuss the role of mycophenolate mofetil in the management of multiple variants of cutaneous LE with associated systemic disease (Table 1).
