MAJOR INFLUENCES:
A mother who was a general practitioner with a controlling personality. Walter Lobitz, Jr, who was responsible, as dermatology chair at Oregon, for her becoming the first female resident and faculty member of that department and for royal mentoring. Richard Dobson and Ken Halprin were major intellectual influences. Raymond Suskind made contact dermatitis her niche by leaving (on his way to Cincinnati from Portland) some money, a wooden case on wheels containing little jars with allergens, and much encouragement.
