WHY:

Because she has trained the most number of pediatric dermatologists in the US, many of whom have distinguished themselves as clinicians, teachers, and investigators.


MED SCHOOL, DERM & PEDI RESIDENCIES:
All 3 at Johns Hopkins.


WHY PEDI DERM:
Lack of pediatric dermatologists in her time (she recalls only 2: Al Jacobs at Stanford and Henry Pearlman in Philadelphia).


MENTORS:
Bob Crounse in Dermatology and Mary Ellen Avery in Pediatrics were tremendous influences, while at Hopkins.


HOW FRIENDS DESCRIBE YOU:
Very modest. "Multitasked and type A. Lots of fun! Loves animals."


FAMILY:
Husband John was a pathologist; daughters Sarah Burton and Anne Beidler are vice-president at Charles Schwab and IS specialist, respectively; sons John Snyder II and Henry Clark II are headed for Pharmacy school and a geologist, respectively.


PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENTS:
Established the first pediatric dermatology fellowship in the US at Children's Memorial in Chicago.
