Subcutaneous Nodules on the Face—Quiz Case

REPORT OF A CASE

A 65-year-old woman presented with a 2-year history of diffuse facial swelling and firm subcutaneous nodules involving the glabella, cheeks, submentum, and lips (Figure 1). One month earlier, she had developed indurated, erythematous papules over her knees and right forearm. Fifteen years earlier, she had received liquid silicone injections to her glabella, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines.

Physical examination revealed facial swelling, a firm erythematous plaque on the glabella, and subcutaneous nodules at other injection sites that involved the nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Her lips were asymmetrical and dysmorphic, and she had a nodule on the right side of her lower lip. She also had firm, indurated, apple jelly–colored papules on her right forearm and both knees (Figure 2).
