The Archives of Dermatology began its electronic version in the summer of 1995, and Harvey Lui, MD, led the effort as the Web editor. The goal was to exploit the unique interactive capabilities of the information highway to enhance the value of the ARCHIVES to both readers and contributors.1 Electronic access to the ARCHIVES extended our reach to other parts of the world and made the world of dermatology into one global village. We thank Dr Lui for his vision and leadership in suggesting and implementing many of these features.

Internet users search the ARCHIVES for answers to their clinical questions and they perform literature searches when preparing manuscripts. When JAMA and the ARCHIVES journals launched their Web sites with HighWire in March 2003, the ability to do a literature search was greatly expanded.
