The involvement of the nail apparatus has rarely been observed as a clinical variant of mycosis fungoides and even more rarely has it been confirmed by biopsy findings. We report a case of pilotropic T-cell lymphoma proved by histologic and molecular findings and associated with ungual involvement that is, to our knowledge, the first reported case of lymphoma-associated ungual mucinosis.

Report of a Case

A 62-year-old man was referred to us in October 2004 with fingernail dystrophy of 2-years' duration associated with a relapse of mycosis fungoides. Since 1989, this patient had been affected by pilotropic mycosis fungoides, which was localized on his face (stage TI disease according to the TNM classification¹⁰) and had the clinical appearance of follicular mucinosis, a diagnosis confirmed by histologic and molecular findings. He had been treated with gemcitabine hydrochloride chemotherapy until 2001.
