The most superficial review of the dermatological literature of the past two or three decadesand I now refer to the literature as found in the journals devoted to cutaneous medicine, since this may be taken as representing the work done by the specialistwill show that certain fields of research have been almost, if not entirely, neglected, and that, in some instances at least, what seems to me a disproportionate amount of time and energy have been devoted to trivial affections.
