Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Old Radiation-Treated Lupus Vulgaris Scar on Neck. Presented by STANTON B. MAY, MD.

This 58-year-old white woman has had an "itchy sore" over the right side of her neck for six years. She had surgery for swollen neck glands at 9 months of age. At age 12 years she was found to have lupus vulgaris, for which radium therapy was prescribed.

Examination revealed a hyperpigmented and depigmented atrophic scar over the base of the neck on the right. A 2- to 3-cm tender, dry, nodular ulcerative area was present at one edge of the scar.

Biopsy showed squamous cell carcinoma.
