To the Editor.—
I am glad to note that Dr. Beveridge has also observed sweat gland necrosis in barbiturate poisoning. Necrosis of sweat glands has additionally been reported in carbon monoxide poisoning (Leavell UW Jr, Farley, CH, and McIntyre, JS: Cutaneous changes in a patient with carbon monoxide poisoning. ARCH DERM99:429-433, 1969). Experimental investigation could further elucidate the role of sweat gland necrosis and temperature variations in these disorders.
