PIEZOGENIC PEDAL PAPULES

To the Editor.—

I would like to mention another case of painful piezogenic pedal papules as recently described in the January 1970 ARCHIVES (101:112-113).

Report of a Case.—

The patient involved was a 21-year-old soldier seen in October 1969 in the Podiatry Clinic for "bumps on the heels." He was referred to the Dermatology Service where he related a history of approximately six months duration of painful protuberances along the sides of the heels when standing. He attributed this to the use of combat boots since entrance on active duty. Examination of the skin showed papular protrusions of the skin on the nonweight bearing portions of the heels. A biopsy was done but unfortunately did not include the clinically normal skin and did not reveal anything on histological examination.
