Polymorphic Light Eruption (Mother of Case 2).

This 41-year-old woman was first seen at the Mayo Clinic during 1947 because of a recurrent pruritic eruption primarily affecting the extensor surfaces of the forearms, dorsa of the hands, legs, and the lower anterior neck which had begun at 6 years of age and had recurred only in the spring and summer months. She was not seen again until March 1969 when her 6-year-old daughter was seen because of a similar eruption.

Numerous erythematous scaling plaques and excoriations were present in the sun-exposed skin of her arms (Fig 1) that occurred one week after sun exposure. Facial skin was unaffected.
