Terry P. Hadley, MD

Arch Dermatol. 1975;111(8):1064.

Since this article does not have an abstract, we have provided the first 150 words of the full text PDF and any section headings.

Angiolymphoid Hyperplasia With Eosinophilia. Presented by PAUL DANTZIG, MD.

A 25-year-old woman noted a rapidly enlarging erythematous nodule on the lower part of her back two months prior to her visit to the clinic. The nodule increased dramatically in size and developed several satellite papules with the same coloration. The woman was four months pregnant. Her family history was non-contributory.

Physical examination showed a 4x3 cm firm, non-tender, non-blanchable, erythematous nodule on the lower part of the back and five pinpoint satellite papules with the same morphology. The patient also had lichen spinulosus on her arms, legs, and trunk.

Microscopic examination of the skin showed numerous dilated blood vessels with endothelial hyperplasia and a dense lymphocytic and histocytic infiltrate. A few eosinophils were noted, but no lymphoid follicles were seen. A direct immunofluorescence test gave negative results for IgG, IgM, IgA, IgE, and complement C3.
