To the Editor.—

The association of multiple trichoepithelioma-type lesions with breast carcinoma, reported in the July ARCHIVES (114:1230, 1978), was of particular interest due to our previous study of a similar patient approximately the same age.¹ Our patient had a bizarre manifestation of progressive baldness associated with a follicular hamartoma and multiple autoimmune phenomena. The lesions identified on the face in the photograph of the patient of Drs Sandbank and Bashan were similar to those of our patient. The striking finding in our patient was that in areas of hair loss, without visible lesions, the same tumors were identified. After multiple biopsies of other body sites, where the only visible clinical observation was loss of hair, the follicular hamartoma was demonstrated in all hairbearing sites.
