We greatly appreciate Dr Delaney's comments relative to our article, especially his concurrence with the fact that the diagnosis of neurosyphilis should not be based on any one laboratory test alone. We would like to respond to the points raised.

Dr Delaney is correct in his statement, as we indicated in our article, that positive CSF serologic test results may occur. However, such occurrences have been reported only in isolated cases.
