To the Editor.—
In regard to the report by Mikhail et al, in the ARCHIVES, on generalized malignant acanthosis nigricans (GMAN) (115:201-202, 1979), we wish to report another unusual case of GMAN associated with metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix.
Report of a Case.—
In April 1978, a 58-year-old woman was referred to the dermatology department because of erythroderma of several months' duration. Three years earlier, she had received cesium implantation therapy for anaplastic squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix, stage Ib. Thereafter, she had been examined periodically in the gynecology and oncology departments and had shown no clinical evidence of active disease.
We observed the patient and treated her symptomatically with steroids for local effect. Over a three-month period, we noticed the gradual onset of thickening and hyperpigmentation of the skin over the whole body, with particular accentuation in the flexural areas. Both nipples were enlarged,
