To the Editor.—

In the July 1980 issue of the ARCHIVES (116:815-816), Bruckner et al described a case of pemphigus foliaceus resembling eruptive seborrheic keratoses. They noted that the patient was in good general health but that he was being treated daily with gitalin, meclizine hydrochloride, and desiccated thyroid. No mention is made as to why he was receiving desiccated thyroid, but it may be assumed that he was suffering from hypothyroidism. Since we recently described two patients suffering from pemphigus associated with autoimmune thyroid disease,¹ it would be of interest to know the results of any thyroid function tests and the reason for medication with thyroid extract in their case.

Accumulation of data on the association of pemphigus with thyroid dysfunction should be of value in the further study of such cases. . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
