To the Editor.—
In their letter, Kürkçüo lu and Atakan1 reported that oral metronidazole produced marked clinical improvement in ten patients with rosacea, and they suggested that "metronidazole may be effective in the treatment of rosacea." The authors could have supported their statement by citing the four previous controlled trials involving more than 100 patients.2-5 These studies have shown both oral and topical metronidazole to be more effective than either placebo or oral tetracycline therapy. But then the authors' letter might not have been published.
