1990 Applications Available for Career Development Award.—

Applications are now available for the 1990 Dermatology Foundation Career Development Award, which is a newly established support mechanism available for academic investigators in the form of a career development award in skin research. The purpose is to assist the recipient in the transition from fellowship status to that of established investigator. Applications will be accepted from junior investigators in the early stages of their academic careers. The applicant has to be a faculty member in a department or division of dermatology, demonstrate strong commitment to skin research, and already have had appropriate initial training (a 2- to 3-year research fellowship or equivalent experience) in biomedical research. A stipend will be provided and can be supplemented from other sources such that the salary received by the recipient is commensurate with peers within his or her institution.
