On March 17, 1991, Albert M. Kligman celebrated his 75th birthday entering, as he described himself, "the puberty of my old age." At 75, he still maintains the intellectual curiosity, physical vigor, and passion for investigative dermatology of someone beginning their career, rather than one who has spent more than 40 years unraveling the mysteries of cutaneous biology. As professor emeritus, Albert Kligman is anything but retired. He keeps two secretaries working at full speed, several fellows trying desperately to complete the latest list of experiments, and a schedule of lectures around the world that would tire most. When asked where his energy comes from, he replies, "Lust for knowledge! —I must know all there is to know about skin and skin disease before I die."
