To the Editor.—

Correspondence in the ARCHIVES has recently centered on the possible relationship between pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP), maternal-fetal weight gain, and twin pregnancy.^1,2 This association has been strengthened by the report of PUPPP in patients with polyhydramnios and triplet pregnancy.³ We have recently reviewed the clinical and histologic features of 32 patients with PUPPP seen at our institution over a 6-year period (1985 through 1991) (F. C. P.; P. Dervan, FRCPath; S. O'Loughlin, FRCPI; unpublished observation, January 1992). The mean age of onset of the eruption in this group of patients was 28 years. In 30 patients (94%), the eruption commenced in the third trimester. There were four twin pregnancies (12%). Twenty-eight patients (87%) were gravida 1, three were gravida 2, and one was gravida 5.
