REPORT OF A CASE

A 30-year-old man was referred for evaluation of an asymptomatic growth on the posterior surface of the right auricle. The lesion was present for 20 years and its size had slowly increased. The patient denied any preceding injury or history of keloids. No treatment had been instituted. The patient was in otherwise excellent health.

Physical examination of his right ear revealed a soft, nontender 7x5x5-cm sessile mass (Figure 1). A few prominent blood vessels were noted in the overlying skin, which was otherwise normal, and the auricle was displaced and folded anteriorly.

Needle aspiration of the mass was performed. It was excised completely (Figure 2) and the specimen was sent for histopathologic examination (Figure 3 and Figure 4).
