REPORT OF A CASE

A 62-year-old black woman presented with a darkbrown papule on the left sole that had been kicked by her grandson 1 month earlier. Since the kick, its size slightly increased and some surrounding redness developed. The lesion had been present for approximately 1.5 years and had not bothered her except for occasional itching.

The physical examination revealed a 10 x 7-mm wellcircumscribed, dark-brown, slightly keratotic papule of the Wallace line of the left foot instep. Erythema surrounded the lesion but no edema was noted (Figure 1). No lymphadenopathy was appreciated on more extensive examination. A shave biopsy specimen is shown (Figure 2 through Figure 4).
