THE Archives of Dermatology is devoted to providing clinical dermatologists and clinical researchers who study the skin with the information they need to provide the best and most cost-effective care for skin disease and to stay abreast of relevant research. We serve as the conduit for the best clinically relevant research studies and observations. In the information age, old habits about timeliness and ease of access may no longer adequately meet today's needs. Therefore, the ARCHIVES has rededicated itself to facing the challenge of information transfer in the new age of communication.
To meet this end, we provide prompt review and rapid publication once an article is accepted. We believe we are now even closer to meeting this goal than in the past. For articles received in 1995 and the first half of 1996, the median time from receipt to returning an initial decision was 17 days, and
